CUSTOMIZING YOUR HALO
Out of the box, the HALO is ready for play. It is paired to the included HALO Remote, and a button press will turn on the intense UV light for three(3) seconds.
If you want to change this, consult the following: STOP! Before you try to do any of these things, read the MESS-UP note at the bottom of these instructions.
The HALO has three SETUP functions:
1) PAIR Mode: pair a remote with the HALO
2) TIMING Mode: set how long the LEDs will stay on after a button press on the HALO Remote
3) UNPAIR Mode: unpair all remotes to this HALO
To do any of these three things, you will select the mode from within the SETUP Menu. To enter the SETUP menu:
1) Turn on your HALO. You will see a red light. (NOTE: You will see it from both sides of the HALO, but it will be brighter on one side).
2) Press and hold the SETUP Button for around three(3) seconds - until you see a blue light come on for one(1) second (NOTE: You cannot see the Setup Button. It is inside the small hole between the USB-C charging port and the ON/OFF switch).
3) After the blue light indicates you are inside the SETUP Menu, the blue will flash again to indicate the SETUP Modes. There will be a single flash, a double flash, a triple flash, then a quadruple flash. If you press and release the SETUP Button once more after the single flash, then you will enter into PAIR Mode. If you wait and press the SETUP Button after the double flash, you will enter TIMING Mode. If you wait until after the triple flash, you will enter the UNPAIR Mode. If you wait until the quadruple flash, then you are too late. That is the signal that the HALO has exited the SETUP Menu and returned to normal operation.
PAIR Mode: Once you enter the PAIR Mode (by pressing the SETUP Button once between the single flash and the double flash), press (for around a second) the button on the HALO Remote you wish to pair. The blue light will go steady ON for one(1) second, indicating that it has received and stored the unique key from that Remote. The HALO will then exit the SETUP Menu and return to normal operation.
LIMITATIONS: Each HALO can remember up to five(5) HALO Remotes. However, you can pair a HALO Remote to an unlimited number of HALOs. TIMING Mode: In the TIMING Mode, you need to work quickly. The HALO will exit the TIMING Mode automatically after you do nothing for three(3) seconds. You will set the glow charge time in seconds by pressing the SETUP Button that many times. For example, if you want the charge your discs for seven(7) seconds with the HALO Remote, then (in the TIMING Mode) press the SETUP Button seven(7) times. You don't need to do this super fast. The three-second timeout for the TIMING Mode resets each time you press the SETUP Button. Once you have finished entering the number of seconds and the timeout occurs, the blue light will go steady ON for one(1) second, indicating that it has received your input. The HALO will then exit the SETUP Menu and return to normal operation. LIMITATIONS: You can set the HALO timing to be from one(1) second to ten(10) seconds. If you enter more than that in the TIMING Mode, the HALO will still max out at ten(10) seconds.
SPECIAL CASE: If you set the HALO timing to be zero(0) seconds, it will enter "Always On" operation. The HALO is now operated by the power switch, and pressing your HALO Remote doesn't do anything. The UV light during "Always On" operation is just a fraction of the maximum intensity. A freshly-charged HALO can remain in "Always On" continuous operation for around three(3) hours - more than a complete round of disc golf. NOTE: When you change the timing from "Always On" to something else, your HALO Remote is still paired to the HALO. However, to have the change in timing take effect, turn the power OFF then back ON.
UNPAIR Mode: Once you enter the UNPAIR Mode, there is nothing more for you to do. All the Remote keys stored by the HALO are erased, and the HALO will automatically exit the SETUP Menu and return to normal operation.
MESS-UP: Don't worry about messing anything up in the SETUP Menu. You can't break or brick the HALO from here. If you don't follow instructions, or make a mistake or you get stuck in the middle of anything, just turn the power OFF and back ON, and start again.
